  Short-lived perennial or biennial with stout, lax and arcuate, reddish, glabres-cent stems up to 40 cm. Sterile shoots sprawling, decumbent. Indumentum dense canescent-silvery, pannose-tomentose, of stellate hairs (2-4 mm diam.) with few, long, branched, unequal and sericeous rays. Cauline leaves oblanceolate, acute, decreasing in size upwards, with a dense indumentum of short-rayed stellate hairs, not pannose. Petals obovate, entire or emarginate, glabrous, 1.5-2 x 0.5-1 mm. Fruits ovate or obovate, obtuse or subemarginate, 2-2.5(-3) x 1.5-2(-2.5) mm, often slightly S-shaped in cross-section, with a ± sparse indumentum of coarse stellate hairs with suberect, unequal and branched rays, glabrescent at maturity, valves unequally inflated. Styles 1-1.5 mm, glabrous. Seeds wingless. Fl. 6-7. Alt. 1400-1800 m.
