  Very similar to A. orientaliş and A. arvensis, but stems low, usually only to 15-20 cm; flowers distinctly shorter than bracts; corolla pale lilac to white, 2-4(-4.5) mm, with tube widened in upper 2/3; lobes 0.5-1 mm;stamens inserted on lower half of limb; filaments 0.2-0.4 mm; anthers oblong-elliptic, 0.5-1 mm; mericarps 1.1-2 mm diam. Fl. 5-7. Dry slopes, scree and fields, 1300-2300 m.

  Sect. Thliphthisa (Griseb.) Ehrend. Low semi-shrubs with woody rootstock. Leaves in whorls of 6-8(-ll), obovate or elliptic to linear, 1-veined, obtuse to acuminate. Inflorescence pyramidal to ovoid, leafy or bracteose. Flowers shortly pedicellate to sessile, subtended by short bracts and bracteoles. Corolla 4-merous, infundibular to rotate, purplish, brownish, greenish-yellow or whitish, externally smooth and glabrous or hairy. Ovary ellipsoid, truncate at apex. Style bifid with ellipsoid, clavate or globose stigmas. Mericarps glabrous and ± granulate, rarely hairy.
