(Each with 1 cm scale.)Perennial with stout woody stocks, and erect, ± unbranched flowering stems 20-50 cm. Rosette leaves petiolate, 2-pinnatisect with oblong to linear, acute segments, greyish or silvery sericeous on both surfaces. Cauline leaves similar, becoming sessile and less divided regularly up stem, uppermost simple or with few segments. Inflorescence a panicle, branches ending in congested, corymbose clusters of capitula. Capitula erect, yellowish, oblong, 3.5-4 mm broad. Outer phyllaries mostly green, with narrow, yellowish scarious margins; inner oblong, clearly exceeding outer, mostly scarious and yellowish. Outer flowers filiform, female, inner hermaphrodite, fertile, corolla yellowish, lobes glabrous or sparsely pilose. Fl. 7-9. Stony slopes, 1550-2000 m.
