T. argyrophyllum (C.Koch) Tvzel. in Sched. Herb. Fl. URSS 16:121 (1966). Figure 14, p. 267. Rootstocks woody, rhizomatous and often fibrous. Stems 25-40 cm, leafy, greyish-tomentose. Basal leaves 2-3-pinnatisect, 10-20 cm on 3-8 cm petioles, oblanceolate in outline, primary segments 12-17-paired, 1-4 cm, secondary segments 5-10-paired, 1-7 x 0.5-3 mm, simple or 3-9-lobed, lobes obtuse or sub-acute, ± densely greyish-tomentose and glandular-punctate; cauline leaves similar, becoming smaller and sessile above, uppermost often 1-pinnatisect. Capitula numerous (20-120) in terminal corymbs. Involucre 3-4(-6) mm broad; phyllaries usually pale-margined, outer lanceolate, 2 x 0.4 mm, inner linear-oblanceolate, obtuse, scarious at apex, 2.5-3.5 x 0.75-1.25 mm. Female flowers 8-12, inconspicuous, 2.75 mm, 3-5-lobed at apex, yellow. Disc flowers 2.5 mm. Achenes 4-5-ribbed, 1.5-1.75 mm; corona ± entire, c. 0.3 mm. Fl. 6-8.
