Perennial. Stems 1 to several, 25-50 cm, usually simple, hispid. Leaves oblan-ceolate, obovate to spathulate, obtuse to subacute, ± semipatent to subadpressed-setose and shortly hairy on both surfaces; basal 40-100 x 6-13 mm, long-petiolate, cauline shorter, sessile or subsessile. Inflorescence of l-3(-5), terminal, scorpioid cymes. Bracts to 12 mm, linear-lanceolate. Pedicels to 2 mm in flower, 5-6 mm in fruit. Calyx 10(-12) mm in flower, 14 mm in fruit, lobes narrowly elliptic to linear-lanceolate, acute,, densely white-setose near base. Corolla bright yellow, 15-17 mm, cylindrical-campanulate, pubescent. Anthers included, slightly shorter than filaments. Nutlets c. 4 mm, with a short beak and broad gibbous shoulders, brownish. Fl. 5-8. Fields, dry limestone slopes and screes, 1100-2740 m.
Type: [N. Iraq] Kurdistan (Assyria orientalis): in nemoribus et dumetis regionis subalpinae montis Kuh-i-Sefin supra pagum Schaklawa, 1500-1600 m, 14 v 1893, Bornmüller 1609 (holo. B, iso. W!).
