Perennial; stems several, 22-57 cm, with a short puberulous indumentum and with sessile glands or not. Leaves oblong, ovate or elliptic, 1.4-4 x 0.5-1.7 cm, entire or crenate, truncate or cuneate, puberulous, usually with sessile glands below; petiole 0-1.1 cm. Inflorescence a widely branched thyrse, bluish-tinged or not, flowers clustered or lax. Bracteoles shorter than or equalling calyx. Calyx ± campanulate, 4-8 mm, sparsely to densely puberulous to tomentose, teeth shorter than or ± equalling tube, narrowly to ± broadly triangular, straight or recurved. Corolla pale lilac to blue, 4-7 mm. Nutlets 2.5 x 1.8-2.2 mm, broadly oblong to almost spherical, rounded trigonous, smooth or tuberculate above. Fl. 4-6. Juniperus macchie, steppe, fallow or cultivated fields and vineyards, railways, 600-1676 m.
