A. remotiflora (Boiss. & Heldr.) Alef. in Öst. Bot. Zeitschr. 12: 253 (1862). Syn: Althaea remotiflora Boiss. & Heldr. in Boiss., Diagn. ser. 1(8): 108 (1849).
Tall perennial. Stems velutinous with small, adpressed stellate hairs. Leaves oblong-orbicular, cordate at the base, the upper divided into 5-7 lobes, the lobes extending for c. ½ the length of the blade, stellate-pilose above and beneath. Involucre small, less than \ as long as the calyx. Calyx conspicuously striate. Petals white or pink, up to 30 mm. Mericarps hairy in the furrow only, very prominently rugose, with interlocking margins. Fl. 7-8. Rocky places up to 1800 m.
