A. reflexifolium Bokhari in Notes R.B.G. Edinb. 30:297 (1970). Map 64. Densely pulvinate shrublet with long, densely leafy branches. Leaves linear-triquetrous, 8-20 x 1-1.2 mm, glaucous-green, lower leaves strongly reflexed, upper spreading, margins scabrid, pubescent to glabrous. Scapes simple, longer than leaves, 1-2-scaled, pubescent to glabrous. Spikes densely imbricate, sometimes ± distichous. Spikelets 5-8, 11-12 mm, 1-flowered, 2 x longer than the puberulent internodes. Bracts pubescent or glabrous; outer bract usually triangular, 5-6 mm, acute, cuspidate, with narrow hyaline margin; inner bracts elliptic, much longer than outer bract, keeled, hyaline except for vein, narrowly obtuse, cuspidate. Calyx 10-12 mm, tube and veins pilose up to middle of limb; limb 10-lobed, white, lobes obtuse, veins slightly excurrent. Petals bright pink. Fl. 6-8. Volcanic and limestone rocks, dry stony slopes, 1700-3000 m.
Type: Turkey B9 Van: Van - Başkale, Halanduran Da., 20 km from Baş-kale, 3000 m, [26 viii 1956], McNeill 657 (holo. E! iso. K!).
Inner Anatolia. A6 Sivas: Yildiz Da., Sariyer, 1700 m, Tobey 2348 (see note below)! B9 Van: Erek Da., 2340 m, D. 22929!
Endemic. Ir.-Tur. element. Related to A. puberulum, but differing in its very strongly reflexed lower leaves, outer bract broadly triangular, inner bracts elliptic, and its general facies. The lower specimen on the sheet from A6 Sivas (Tobey 2348) has shorter, glabrous leaves, but scarcely warrants varietal status.
