Subspinescent shrub to 1 m, tortuously branched below; young shoots glabrous. Leaves linear-lanceolate to narrowly obovate, up to 4 x 0.6 cm, serrate-glandular, glabrous, sessile with decurrent base. Flowers pink, 1-1.5 cm diam., sessile. Drupe ± globose to ovate-globose, slightly compressed, up to 15x12 mm, yellowish when young, becoming greyish, velutinous to sparsely hirsute; stone almost smooth, with indistinct pits and short grooves, sometimes slightly keeled. Fl. 4-5. On rocky slopes, 2300-2500 m.
Type: Turkey C10 Hakkari; Sat Daği, between Varegöz and Sat Gölu, 2400-2500 m, Davis 45522 (holo. E!).

Endemic. Ir.-Tur. element. Distinguished from subsp. carduchorum (Primus carduchorum (Bornm.) Meikle), from N. Iraq and W. Iran, by its serrate leaves.
